Job Title: Director of Fiscal Operations

Join the Arlington Central School District team as the Director of Fiscal Operations, a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the school district. This position involves strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and staff management, working closely with district leadership to promote fiscal accountability and transparency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to the Assistant Superintendent for Business for all school business affairs and activities
  • Supervise the work of staff in the business office, including financial, statistical, and clerical records
  • Participate in long-term financial planning and analysis to support the district's strategic goals
  • Compile material and assist in budget preparation, salary and insurance studies, special statistical, accounting, and related reports for administrative use
  • Oversee control of budgetary accounts and advise administrative staff as needed
  • Assist in work with architects and contractors to provide satisfactory buildings for educating students
  • Provide advice to District administrators on all matters related to school business affairs
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual preliminary budget based on requisitions from all departments and buildings
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and policies
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to mitigate risks and enhance internal controls
  • Participate in the selection of new staff within the business function
  • Coordinate and manage the District Worker's Compensation program
  • Participate in the administration of the District's sick bank programs related to the classified staff
  • Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts and fiscal staff, promoting professional development and continuous improvement
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation
Qualifications:
  • New York State Certification as a School Business Administrator (SBA) or School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Business Leader (SDBL) or
  • Meet requirements for the Dutchess County Civil Service Competitive School Business Manager II
