Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with law enforcement and emergency services to address immediate safety concerns and emergency situations.
• Communicate school policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors to ensure their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.
• Intervene in potential conflicts to minimize disruptions of campus property.
• Maintain detailed logs of all events, calls, and radio contacts.
• Operate and monitor electronic devices, including audio and visual alarms, and other surveillance devices.
• Operate the communications systems, radios, and leased lines.
• Patrol Board property when and as assigned to provide for the safety and welfare of facilities, school personnel, and visitors.
• Prepare documentation, including incident and activity reports, security logs, etc.
• Refer incidents to appropriate site personnel to ensure follow-up in accordance with administrative guidelines.
• Report observations and incidents relating to specific incidents to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel for follow-up action.
• Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns.
• Work a flexible schedule to accommodate job requirements, including emergencies, nighttime, weekend, and holiday duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License and copy of driving record.
• Job-related experience desired.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
• Tuberculosis Skin Test.
• Must follow safety and health protocols.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The Security Specialist must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with students, staff, and visitors. The Security Specialist must also be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
