Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician - Medical Director to join our team at Cherokee Nation. As a key member of our healthcare leadership team, you will be responsible for providing medical direction and oversight to our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical direction and oversight to our healthcare services, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Cherokee Nation's healthcare standards.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of healthcare professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare leaders to develop and implement strategic plans to improve healthcare outcomes and services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Develop and manage budgets to ensure effective use of resources and achieve financial goals.
  • Represent Cherokee Nation in various healthcare settings, including conferences and meetings with other healthcare organizations.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree as a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a related field, preferably in a leadership or management role.
  • Knowledge of Contact Management systems and Database software.
  • Licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Oklahoma and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certifications and/or pediatric advanced life support (PALS).
  • Valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Residency and/or Internship training.
  • Experience in healthcare leadership or management.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality practices.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically a healthcare setting, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
