Role Summary: This position involves performing regular cleaning and maintenance tasks within the facility. The individual will be responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the building and its surroundings, as well as managing the collection and delivery of donations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and sanitize restrooms.
  • Dust and clean furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty and clean all waste receptacles.
  • Collect and unload donations as per schedule.
  • Change light bulbs as required.
  • Strip, clean, polish, and seal floors.
  • Wash windows both inside and outside.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on cleaning equipment and keep the janitorial supply area organized.
  • Assist in moving or assembling furniture as needed.
  • Clear snow and debris from the building's exterior.
  • Manage waste disposal around the premises.
  • Oversee general maintenance of the building's exterior and grounds.
  • Dispose of boxes from the family services area.
  • Ensure all windows and doors are secured when necessary.
  • Perform light painting and other maintenance tasks as required.
  • Driving is a key function of this role.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties: None

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of six months of relevant experience.

Qualifications: The following qualifications are essential for this position:
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with cleaning products and their appropriate use.
  • Understanding of basic hand tools and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing payroll and personal information via online systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to foster effective working relationships.
Additional Requirements: Candidates must pass all relevant background checks and possess a valid driver's license. Approval through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program is necessary for driving any vehicle for organizational purposes.

Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and climb. The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving items weighing over 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment: The work environment may be loud or busy, as it involves interaction with clients. Employees may encounter wet or humid conditions and varying temperatures while performing their duties.
