Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Marine Shipfitter to join our team at Tradesmen International, Inc. in Navarre, FL. As a Marine Shipfitter, you will be responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and bracing them into position within the hull of a ship for riveting or welding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lay out position of parts on metal using scribes and hand tools
  • Locate and mark reference points, such as center, buttock, and frame lines
  • Position parts in hull of ship, assisted by rigger
  • Align parts in relation to each other using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls
  • Mark location of holes to be drilled and install temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting
  • Install packing and gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips
  • Prepare molds and templates for fabrication of non-standard parts
  • Tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding
  • Roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts using shop machinery, such as plate rolls, presses, bending brakes, and joggle machines
Requirements
  • Able to read blueprints or templates
  • Tools for the trade
  • Proper PPE
  • OSHA 10 is preferred
