The Senior Java Web Application Developer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Minnesota Department of Education's (MDE) custom web-based applications. This position entails leading the design and execution of intricate computer systems, ensuring the optimal performance of existing web applications, and overseeing the technical architecture of agency systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of large-scale web applications.
- Guide and mentor technical specialists on complex projects.
- Collaborate with senior management to analyze and enhance business processes.
- Design automation procedures to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure alignment of systems with the strategic objectives of the agency.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of IT experience as a Full Stack Java Developer, including:
- Proficiency in web application frameworks like Spring Framework or Spring Boot.
- Experience in Azure app development and migration, along with GitHub Actions.
- Hands-on skills in user interface design using HTML3, CSS3, JavaScript, and React.
- Expertise in SQL database management and querying.
- Knowledge of integration technologies such as JDBC and Hibernate.
- Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub or Subversion.
A master's degree in Information Technology or a related field may substitute for three (3) years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Groovy and Grails.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and microservices.
- Expertise in web application performance optimization.
- Experience in project leadership and mentoring junior developers.
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates must pass all legally required background checks prior to employment.
