The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Truck Driver/Warehouse Worker. This position requires a strong ability to drive a heavy-duty truck and work in a warehouse environment, with a focus on delivering donations and assisting with warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities- Drive Salvation Army trucks to scheduled routes to pick up donations and deliver merchandise to customers, ensuring compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations.
- Lift, carry, load, and unload a variety of donations, including furniture, appliances, clothing, and other items, ensuring the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and contributions at all times.
- Assist in performing work in the thrift store and warehouse, including receiving, inspecting, and sorting donated items, and preparing them for display and sale.
- Assist in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area, including cleaning floors, tables, and work areas.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and providing directions and information to customers.
- High School diploma or G.E.D. and experience working in a retail store preferred.
- One year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid Driver's License with a DOT Health Card or the ability to get such a card.
- Ability to read and follow a map and handwritten directions, and to drive a heavy-duty truck.
- Knowledge of effective customer service techniques, and the principles and practices of basic mathematics.
This position requires working in a warehouse environment with exposure to the outdoors, where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather, and working with a variety of donations, including furniture, appliances, clothing, and other items.
