The Travel Nurse RN will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with cardiac conditions. This role requires expertise in telemetry and critical care nursing.
Certification Requirements- Certifications: ACLS
- RTO after booking is not permitted and cannot be negotiated on-site.
- Any cancellations or additional RTO on the unit may lead to potential contract termination.
- Patient-to-nurse ratios will be maintained at 1:6-7.
- Shifts will be scheduled as NIGHT 3x12-Hour with options for 36 or 48 hours.
- If scheduled for 48 hours, no overtime will be billed until after the 48-hour mark.
- Contracts can range from 13 to 26 weeks.
- Maximum RTO allowed is 7 days.
- Floating to other units is a requirement.
- Weekend shifts will be required, approximately 5-6 weekends (equivalent to every other weekend).
- Staff may be assigned to work with a Storm Team or Hurricane Team as needed.
- During catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters, staff may be required to report to work.
- Mid-contract consolidation to a centralized office may occur, with potential reassignment to different units.
Care will be provided to patients with diagnoses including:
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Arrhythmias
- Post-cardiac Catheterization
The unit specializes in monitoring cardiac patients and managing:
- Cardiac Drips (e.g., Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine)
- Sheath removals and TR Band applications
Familiarity with the following systems is essential:
- Pyxis for medication management
- EPIC for documentation
- SBAR for communication
- Scheduling is self-managed.
- Unit orientation will last 24 hours.
- Scrubs will be navy in color.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Traveler experience is not mandatory.
- Local candidates are accepted with a potential rate difference.
- Required skills include:
- Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and perform remote monitoring
- Experience with Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization and Surgery, including sheath removal
- Proficiency in accessing ports, administering blood products, and managing central lines
- ACLS certification is mandatory.
- Passing an EKG test prior to starting is required for this specialty.
- A nursing manager interview is necessary before finalizing the offer.
