Civil Engineering Manager Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support municipal-related project development
  • Staff development and supervision
  • Design and review IDOT, county, and municipal transportation needs
  • Design and review of water, wastewater, and storm-related projects
  • Manage projects from inception to completion
  • Develop and maintain relationships with state and local authorities
  • Conceptual design of stormwater BMPs
  • Oversee and execute permits related to agencies such as IDNR, IEPA, NPDES, IDNR floodplains, and USACE wetlands
  • Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and client consultants
  • Attend city staff and council/board meetings
  • Communicate with clients regarding current projects and develop future projects
  • Organize and complete projects from inception to completion
  • Develop and mentor staff and collaborate with the entire Civil team
  • Prepare project proposals
Requirements:
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Years of civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Proven leadership skills with engineering staff
  • Ability to effectively manage clients and participate in business development activities
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong team player that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously
  • Contract and negotiating skills
