About the OpportunityWe are looking for a skilled personnel specialist to join our team in Springfield, IL. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for performing professional personnel duties related to the development and administration of the ILSOS Classification Plan and ILSOS Department of Personnel Pay Plan. You will research and issue determinations for position inquiry audits or appeals as requested by employees or management.

This role requires extensive knowledge of office procedures, practices, equipment, and personal computers. You must also have a working knowledge of arithmetic computations and the ability to effectively interact with employees, management personnel, the public, applicants, and other personnel professionals.

The ideal candidate will possess a valid Illinois driver's license and may require some travel. Additionally, you must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Primary Responsibilities
  • You will administer training and experience examinations evaluating applicant work history and educational achievement in accordance with established grading criteria.
  • Determine the proper allocation of new positions, propriety of clarification of existing positions, abolition of positions, or other position actions using information received from operating departments.
  • Evaluate, process, and maintain documents from the IL Dept. of Labor and labor representatives to ensure rate changes are properly implemented following the Department of Personnel Pay Plan code.
Key Requirements
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college AND two (2) years of professional personnel or human resources experience in a public or private organization.
  • Preference will be given to Illinois residents in the hiring and selection process.
