Licensed Practical Nurse

This position is responsible for supervising LPNs and other unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering nursing care to designated patients. The role emphasizes fostering a collaborative work environment with the healthcare team while providing care and services to individuals across all age demographics. Additionally, it involves managing human resource functions and adhering to budgetary constraints.
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in fulfilling each essential duty effectively. The qualifications outlined below reflect the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for success. Education
Required: Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program.
Work Experience
Required: Minimum of 3 years of LPN experience, including experience in ambulatory care.
At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience.
Certifications
Required: Current LPN License in the state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred: IV Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficient in computer usage, software applications, and web-based tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally to various audiences throughout the patient care continuum.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call duties, as well as travel between facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees clinical operations and provides supervision, training, and development for department staff to ensure quality assurance.
- Conducts performance evaluations for LPNs and other clinical/clerical personnel as directed by the department manager.
- Coordinates provider call schedules and assigns clinic schedules for provider staff.
- Administers medications and prescribed therapies in accordance with National Patient Safety Guidelines.
- Delivers safe and effective nursing care to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Addresses patient inquiries, resolves issues, and escalates concerns as necessary.
- Completes required medical/legal documentation accurately.
- Adapts care approaches to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.
- Performs additional related duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Medium Work - Involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements exceed those for Sedentary Work.
Routine duties may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissues. The incumbent works in a patient care environment, interacts directly with patients, and may handle specimens that could carry infectious diseases. There is an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
Given the healthcare setting, there may also be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or waste through various processes, including receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and disposal of contaminated materials. The risk level may vary based on the specific job duties.
