OBJECTIVE:
Under general supervision and guidance of the Recreation Programmer, the Kickball League Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe and enjoyable participation of all players in the City Kickball league. This individual will enforce the league's rules and regulations, maintain the cleanliness of the facility, and uphold order during games.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Recreation Programmer
Collaborates with seasonal staff regularly and communicates with other division employees, professional staff, kickball participants, and the general public.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Understand, clarify, and enforce league regulations.
- Manage opening and closing procedures, including unlocking gates and turning on necessary lights.
- Ensure cleanliness of the facility, including press box, fields, and spectator areas.
- Verify player eligibility by checking the official team roster.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Address disputes on the field.
- Implement ejections when necessary.
- React appropriately in emergency situations and follow established protocols.
- Document player injuries, complaints, and incidents.
- Provide first aid and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Prepare the facility before games and clean up after all events.
- Submit score sheets and other documentation to the Recreation Division Office nightly.
- Report issues to the supervisor.
- Record team scores and statistics in the binder and ensure team managers sign the score sheet each night.
- Document any roster changes on the back of the sign-in sheet.
- Arrive at the designated site 15 minutes before game time to ensure readiness for play.
- Act as a liaison between the league and the office.
- Oversee league equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the essential duties of the position.
Education, Certifications and Experience:
- Experience with the fundamentals of kickball.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, or willingness to obtain.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work evenings.
- Knowledge of the rules and fundamentals of kickball.
- Skills in playing or coaching kickball preferred.
- Ability to follow city/department/division policies, work independently, and make sound decisions.
- Effective communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
- Strong customer relations skills and reliable transportation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city employees, department professionals, staff, customers, and the general public.
PHYSICAL FACTORS:
- Wear appropriate staff apparel.
- Lifting up to 15 lbs. to transport equipment.
- Work in conditions that may create dirt and dust.
- Ability to sit or stand and move for extended periods.
- Ability to perform various tasks outdoors in different climates.
- Ability to see and observe all sections of an assigned area of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.
