Job Title: Elementary School Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary School Nurse to join our team at Jay Public Schools.

Job Summary:

The Elementary School Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to students, staff, and faculty. This includes administering first aid, medication, and specialized treatments, as well as maintaining accurate and confidential health records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Health Services: Administer first aid, medication, and specialized treatments to students as needed.
  • Health Records: Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including logs of visitors to the nurse's office.
  • Communication: Contact parents as needed regarding sick or injured children, screening results, or other health matters.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with outside agencies and administer mandated health screenings.
  • Student Education: Provide student education and training regarding health and safety issues as requested by the building principal or teachers.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidential student health files and adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and board policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Valid R.N. license or higher.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, sit for extended periods, twist at the neck and trunk, bend at the waist, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift/move up to 40 pounds, handle objects and tools with hands and operate equipment, repetitive use of fingers and hands to operate equipment.
  • Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
Working Conditions:

The Elementary School Nurse will work in a fast-paced school environment, interacting with students, staff, and faculty on a daily basis. The nurse will be required to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and board policies and procedures.
