Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled software engineer to join our team at Apex Systems.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience working with consumer electronics, firmware, and lab test equipment.

The primary responsibility will be to integrate hardware components and build scalable systems that facilitate easy software updates and component swaps.

Additionally, you will develop software that automates hardware systems, enabling data collection and requiring a strong understanding of hardware components, firmware, and programming skills in C++ and Python.

Main Responsibilities

• Setting up and maintaining data collection software

• Building abstractions for hardware and scaling solutions to various types of hardware

• Debugging C++ and Python code, analyzing errors, and communicating with other engineers and scientists

• Writing software that interfaces with hardware

• Designing and executing experiments to validate product quality and investigate hardware/software issues

• Designing and commissioning automation procedures for experiments

• Performing device calibration using proprietary equipment

• Commissioning and operating complex measurement and test equipment

• Documenting processes and techniques with the core team's assistance

Requirements

• Experience with real-time data pipelines, including moving high-resolution images from cameras

• Interfacing with hardware, such as a Raspberry Pi

• Statistical data analysis and visualization

• Robot control or mechatronics experience, particularly:

  • Controlling linear motion stages
  • Controlling robot arms
  • Knowledge about camera optics and acquisition settings
  • Experience with VR or AR systems
