Job Overview

Position Summary: A vital member of the kitchen team responsible for the direct preparation of meals for residents, staff, and visitors. This role encompasses responsibilities related to recipe adherence, portion control, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze menus and production sheets to ascertain the necessary food quantities for standard and specialized diets.
  2. Prepare designated food items as instructed.
  3. Conduct taste tests and aroma assessments of cooked dishes.
  4. Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety protocols throughout the food preparation and cooking processes.
  5. Assist in maintaining accurate meal census logs, monitoring serving temperatures, and adhering to quality standards.
  6. Support the upkeep and maintenance of kitchen equipment; report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
  7. Oversee the cooking process to guarantee that food is maintained and served at appropriate temperatures.
  8. Help with the preparation and distribution of meals.
  9. Prepare cold dishes and desserts in advance of meal service.
  10. Assemble snacks and beverages for delivery to designated areas.
  11. Perform cleaning tasks in kitchen and serving areas as scheduled; assist in clearing away food items.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned equipment and the overall kitchen workspace.
  13. Fill in for absent staff members as needed.
  14. Participate in staff meetings and departmental training sessions as required or preferred.
  15. Contribute ideas aimed at enhancing the quality of care for residents or improving job efficiency and satisfaction.
  16. Execute all job responsibilities in accordance with safety regulations and practices to ensure the well-being of staff, residents, and visitors.
