Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Maintenance Technician I to perform essential plumbing tasks at a journeyman level, focusing on both repairs and new installations within our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to service requests and work orders, addressing broken lines and components as necessary.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on pumps and lift stations to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Repair, install, or adjust lift station pumps, floats, and switches as required.
  • Install or repair plumbing fixtures including valves, faucets, water closets, and urinals.
  • Utilize soldering techniques for various types of pipes and tubing.
  • Manage the installation or repair of sprinkler systems.
  • Set timers for pump and sprinkler systems to maintain efficiency.
  • Unclog drains, vents, and grease traps to ensure proper drainage.
  • Estimate materials needed for various plumbing projects.
  • Cut and thread pipes and tubing as part of installation or repair processes.
  • Operate specialized equipment such as jackhammers, concrete saws, and sewer machines.
  • Assist in other maintenance areas as needed, with potential for overtime work.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to interact positively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all policies regarding equal employment and nondiscrimination, following relevant laws and standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of four years of experience at a skilled journeyman level is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license is required; candidates must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with passenger and air brake endorsement within one year of hire.
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing methods, practices, tools, and materials is essential.
  • Ability to repair or install potable water systems and underground sprinkler systems.
  • Proficiency in repairing, adjusting, or replacing lift station pumps.
  • Capability to follow instructions and supervise a small team effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches for plumbing installations.
  • Understanding of safety precautions and regulations within the plumbing field.
  • Familiarity with codes and regulations pertaining to sanitary plumbing systems.
