Job Title: Staff Telecommunications Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Telecommunications Engineer to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a key member of our Transmission & Distribution global practice, you will play a critical role in supporting our Wallingford, CT office.

Job Summary:

The Staff Telecommunications Engineer will serve as a lead engineer on telecommunications projects, working closely with our clients to design and implement innovative solutions for grid modernization, network development, and renewable energy integration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute the electrical design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Research, design, and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Apply knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Create project deliverables, including device configurations, network architecture diagrams, and specifications.
  • Utilize innovative tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 3D scanning, and model-based design.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, or other related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 3 years of utility telecommunications project or related experience. Consulting experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:

The expected compensation range for this position is $120,000.00 annually. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with 10% travel required. The primary location is US-CT-Wallingford.
