About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Examination Specialist to join our team at the Internal Revenue Service. As a Tax Examination Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and fairness of tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze complex tax cases to determine the scope and nature of interest calculation issues and problems.
  • Reconstruct data and complete analysis of conditions and complicating factors, including computational errors, multiple tax years, and adjustment issues.
  • Prepare documentation and inputs adjustments, credit transfers, and other necessary actions to resolve case issues.
  • Develop and implement internal procedures to ensure consistency in the application of tax law.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience in tax examination, tax reporting, and related records.
  • Experience in calculating tax liabilities, computing penalties and interest, and preparing adjustments and other documents.
  • Ability to apply Privacy Act and disclosure procedures as appropriate.
