Auto Damage Appraiser Job DescriptionJob Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Auto Damage Appraiser to join our team at Travelers Indemnity Co. As an Auto Damage Appraiser, you will be responsible for inspecting, estimating, and negotiating auto physical damage claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including prompt contact, effective communication, and follow-through.
- Review physical damage documents for appropriateness and identify loss economic opportunities.
- Negotiate with repair facilities on revisions to physical damage documents.
- Prepare and document accurate vehicle/equipment damage appraisals, including Actual Cash and Replacement values.
- Electronically audit vehicle estimates using technical expertise and information gathered to accurately determine physical damage claim value.
- Negotiate claim settlements with customers and/or repair facilities, leveraging appropriate resources to achieve agreement on value.
- Determine settlement amounts for applicable Total Loss claims, including applicable coverages and deductibles.
- Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority and initiate payment to customers.
- Partner with assigned Claim Professionals throughout the life of the claim to ensure appropriate claim resolution and pursuit of alternative recovery sources.
- Effectively manage work assignments and track financial changes.
Requirements:
- High School Degree or GED required.
- A minimum of one year experience estimating auto damage required or successful completion of the Appraiser trainee program.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Strong technical background, including extensive knowledge of auto repair and repair techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of claims appraisal systems and overall claim operations.
- Strong mathematical and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ownership attitude and customer-centric response to all assigned tasks.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain current on jurisdictional laws and regulations.
