About the 9B Neuro Cardiac Intermediate Team:
This unit boasts a diverse culture of skill levels, offering opportunities for growth and advancement for all staff. Whether you are a recent nursing graduate eager to enhance your career or an experienced nurse seeking leadership and teaching opportunities, our Neuro Cardiac Intermediate unit has a place for you. This facility is unique in the area for performing craniotomies, and our team collaborates closely with brain surgeons, making this unit a major specialty.
On 9B, we foster a familial atmosphere where encouragement and support are readily available. With only one traveler on the team, our nursing staff is committed to working together, ensuring that everyone has a reliable support system.
Unit Specifics: The 9B unit consists of 19 beds, including 6 high acuity beds and 13 telemetry beds. We cater to a varied patient demographic with intricate cardiac and neurological needs. Our progressive patient population may include those requiring increased oxygen support, advanced medication management, and heightened neurological assessments. Patients may present with cardiac arrhythmias, chest pain evaluations, post-cardiac catheterization, and post-craniotomy recovery from brain tumors and strokes. Many individuals are recuperating from severe critical illnesses, necessitating frequent monitoring, nursing interventions, and extensive rehabilitation services from physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Due to the high acuity of our progressive bed patients, the typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, with a 1:4 ratio for telemetry beds.
