Key Responsibilities- Pre-Certification Duties: Receive referrals on new patients, verify patient coverage, and communicate with primary care providers and insurance companies to obtain authorization for initial visits.
- Assist with Patient Intake and Discharge: Collect, record, and report vital signs, temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR), blood pressure, and blood sugar readings.
- Wound Care and Hyperbaric Therapy: Assist with wound photography and measurement, track observed responses to treatment, and record care given as observed responses to treatment.
- Clinical Duties: Gather information for intake and discharge, explain treatment procedures to patients, prepare patients for examination, and assist with laboratory specimen collection and preparation.
- Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) and completion of a Medical Assistant program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
- Certification: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
- Experience: Six (6) or more months of related experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment
This position is primarily indoors and involves working in a patient care environment with exposure to hazards, mechanical equipment, and proximity to moving objects.
