We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team at Soliant in Madison, WI.
Role OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity to work with students who require individualized support and accommodations. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction and Support:
- Develop and implement IEPs that cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities of your students.
- Design and deliver engaging instructional activities that promote academic growth and social development.
- Monitor and assess student progress, making adjustments to teaching methods and materials as needed.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, empathy, and understanding among students.
- Employ effective behavioral management strategies to address and resolve issues that may impact student learning.
- Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes social skills, emotional intelligence, and academic achievement.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, needs, and any concerns.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals and strategies.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with best practices in special education and incorporate new strategies into your teaching practice.
- Attend professional development workshops and trainings as required to enhance your knowledge and skills.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by the school district and state regulations.
Requirements:
- Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid Wisconsin Special Education Certification (Teacher of Students with Disabilities or equivalent).
- Experience:
- Minimum 1+ years of experience working in special education (2+ years preferred but not required).
- Experience working with various disabilities and learning challenges, including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional disturbances.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of each student.
- Personal Attributes:
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and resilience in a challenging environment.
Salary Range: $35-$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Location: Madison, WI.
