Overview :
The Entry-Level Nursing Professional is a newly qualified nurse embarking on their career journey, establishing their professional identity within the healthcare field. This role entails adhering to the nursing practices as outlined in the State of Maine Nurse Practice Act, along with the standards and protocols set forth by Northern Light Health. The individual will be responsible for delivering patient care to designated patients and supervising other qualified personnel to whom care responsibilities have been delegated. The nurse will assess and evaluate the nursing care provided to patients and their families, exercising independent judgment in care implementation or delegation to qualified staff. The role encompasses addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs of patients while coordinating care plans with fellow healthcare professionals. Responsibilities will be executed in alignment with established performance standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensure safe and effective patient care by employing best practices during handoff communications and when reporting patient information, while appropriately seeking assistance from colleagues.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the operation and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Conduct and document systematic assessments based on established criteria.
- Identify and respond to abnormal diagnostic results, reporting findings to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Foster professional relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, treating all with courtesy and respect.
- Utilize theoretical knowledge to inform care practices.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal standards.
- Complete mandatory education competencies specific to the patient population served.
- Provide culturally competent care to diverse patient populations.
- Deliver patient-centered care, ensuring alignment with Northern Light Health policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members, seeking assistance for conflict resolution as necessary.
- Implement care plans and identify resources to meet patient needs.
- Recognize and communicate changes in patient conditions that may affect unit staffing or safe patient care delivery.
- Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating professional behavior and addressing interpersonal conflicts.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient care.
- Utilize available resources efficiently and seek assistance when required.
- Take responsibility for meeting educational and mandatory program requirements, including clinical competencies.

Additional Information :
BLS certification is required.
