Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Pathology Assistant to join our team at Yale School of Medicine. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Director of Surgical Pathology and will be responsible for assisting pathologists with various tasks, including gross description and dissection of tissue, preparation and staining of sections, and coordination of autopsy services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform gross description and dissection of tissue removed at surgery
  • Assist with frozen section examinations, including preparation and staining of sections
  • Coordinate autopsy services, including supervision of laboratory personnel
  • Prepare and present at weekly clinical conferences
  • Teach students as required
Requirements
  • Master's Degree of Health Science in Pathology or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to function both independently and as part of a team
  • Highly motivated and highly organized
  • Proven experience handling human specimens
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred experience with MAC and IBM computer systems
  • AAPA certification
