Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate Systems Engineer to join our team at Peraton. As a key member of our Nuclear Safety Cross Check Analysis (NSCCA) program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of nuclear weapon systems.

Responsibilities
  • System Analysis and Assessment: Perform thorough assessments of systems, reviewing software to identify flaws and suggest improvements.
  • Code Examination and Testing: Conduct code examination, analysis, and testing to ensure software meets safety and mission critical functionality standards.
  • System Knowledge Acquisition: Review and analyze systems, platforms, applications, and their interfaces to quickly acquire system knowledge and understand design and functionality.
  • Hardware and Software Identification: Identify hardware and software portions of systems for safety and mission critical functionality.
  • Embedded Software Evaluation: Perform detailed evaluation of embedded software to verify that software requirements are correctly implemented in the design and code of embedded computers and that the resulting code does not contain embedded safety hazards.
  • Requirements and Test Procedures: Identify requirements, design, and test procedures that will ensure the system will perform as expected.
  • Documentation and Presentation: Document analysis performed with resulting anomalies identified and present findings to peers, customers, and management.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science (STEM) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Math, or Physics with 2 years of relevant experience or Masters of Science or PhD (STEM) degree with relevant experience.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability to identify logic errors, code inconsistencies and inefficiencies, safety hazards associated with software and/or hardware design languages, code design, and requirement specifications.
  • Communication Skills: Technical writing experience and the ability to write technically and grammatically correct documentation.
  • Teamwork and Self-Directed: Must be self-directed and able to work independently and with a team.
  • U.S. Citizenship and Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Software Testing and Safety Analysis: 3 years' experience in software testing, software safety analysis, or related technical field.
  • Air Force Safety Manuals and Processes: Experience with Air Force Safety Manuals, Instructions, and Processes.
  • Programming Languages and Development Environments: Experience with Object-Oriented Programming languages and Integrated Development Environments.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering and Cameo: Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo.
  • IBM DOORS: Experience with IBM DOORS.
