Job Description

Job Summary:

The Roads and Grounds Operations Supervisor is a key member of the Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation team, responsible for ensuring the maintenance, schedule, operation, and quality assurance of the FASTC facilities. This role requires a strong leader who can manage a team, prioritize tasks, and maintain high-quality standards in all roads and grounds functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all roads and grounds activities and personnel within the respective Site.
  • Maintain inventory control and accountability of tools.
  • Ensure preparation, accuracy, and completeness of required records.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as needed.
  • Assist with ordering resupply materials to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Conduct quality reviews of work and related documentation.
  • Communicate professionally, orally, and in writing with subordinates.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in all roads and grounds functions.
  • Analyze maintenance data for efficient management of maintenance efforts.
  • Set performance goals and deadlines aligned with company plans, mission, and vision.
  • Organize workflow to ensure a clear understanding of delegated tasks by employees.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure submission of daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Keep leadership informed on roads and grounds actions, making recommendations for efficiency.
  • Contribute to high-level management status and planning meetings.
  • Monitor overtime requirements and usage closely.
  • Anticipate and promptly resolve operational problems.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities over a team.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide necessary training to staff and maintain necessary reports and training records as required.
  • Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company and customers plans, mission, and vision.
  • Ensure all maintenance equipment/tools are properly functioning and maintained.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Consistently produce quality products and service.
  • Complete all training within required timeline.
  • Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain an interim secret clearance prior to start.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Arborist Certification is Preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate 3 to 5 years' experience managing all aspects of roads and ground activities, including but not limited to roads maintenance and general landscaping maintenance.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising commercial facility support services.
  • Specialized experience working with a federal government agency or US military installation is preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of work management systems/software/programs (e.g., MAXIMO).
  • Must possess a knowledge of codes and standards applicable to maintenance services associated with the contract.
  • Must possess the ability to identify and resolve issues, establish priorities, and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Proficient computer skills to include the use of office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication (English) and must be able to read and understand the signs, signals, and operating instructions.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks in a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules under pressure of deadlines while maintaining acceptable performance standards.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License as required by the position.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment screening to include Motor Vehicle Record check.
