Your role and responsibilities

As an intern, you will gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will learn by executing assigned tasks. You will also demonstrate your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing your educational and professional opportunities. About the internship: The ABB Engineering Internship Program is designed to nurture future leaders by providing challenging work experiences across various locations. Interns will start with a thorough orientation to assimilate into ABB's culture. After orientation, interns will be assigned to one of four business sectors: electrification, motion, robotics, or process automation. Each internship emphasizes significant work to develop skills, acquire business knowledge, and contribute to team objectives. Potential roles include:
• Preventative Maintenance Analytics: Evaluate machine downtime and repair schedules to aid in the creation of effective preventative maintenance strategies.
• Process Management: Oversee comprehensive processes from customer service quotes to site installations, ensuring seamless operations.
• Quality Assurance: Assist in maintaining quality production across various lines such as plating, powder coating, and e-coating.
• Efficiency Improvement: Work on enhancing efficiencies through new equipment setups and assembly process enhancements.
• Waste Reduction: Identify and implement methods to minimize assembly waste and increase product throughput.
• Automation Implementation: Engage in the integration of automated processes utilizing advanced technology to optimize operations.
• Additive Manufacturing: Acquire knowledge in additive manufacturing (3D printing) and contribute to relevant projects. You will be primarily responsible for:
• Collaborating with diverse teams to support ABB's operations, ensuring effective coordination and successful project delivery within established timelines.
• Leveraging your understanding of customer needs and ABB's solutions to identify effective strategies for clients, ensuring successful project outcomes aligned with their requirements.
• Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative initiatives.
• Seeking feedback and guidance from your manager and team members to enhance your performance and skills.

Qualifications for the role
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's engineering degree program in the United States, graduating between specified years.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required.
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and devise strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to communicate ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
