About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Development Engineer in Test to join our Health Sensing team at Apple. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for crafting health features on Watch and working closely with development and quality engineers to test sophisticated health features on next-generation Watch hardware and watchOS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead cross-functional testing efforts to ensure high-quality health features on Watch
  • Design and develop robust, scalable, and reliable infrastructure to support testing
  • Collaborate with development and quality engineers to test health features and identify areas for improvement
  • Develop automation frameworks with a focus on scalability and reliability of tests
  • Participate in deep technical discussions with the engineering team to ensure testability of the system
  • Own verification and validation strategies for software running health algorithms on watchOS and iOS devices
  • Design and recommend logging telemetry to improve failure prioritizing efficiency and gather quality metrics
  • Participate in post-mortem discussions to think strategically about how to prevent similar issues in the future
Requirements
  • 3+ years of proven experience working as a Software Automation Engineer
  • Knowledge of software development and release lifecycle, including software updates
  • Experience diagnosing and debugging sophisticated systems
  • Proficiency in testing software frameworks and drivers
  • Proficiency in scripting language such as Python and Shell
  • Experience with data-driven testing strategies and approaches
  • Proven background in testing methodologies (e.g. unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, functional testing, etc), tools, frameworks, and pipelines
  • Outstanding collaborative skills including networking, negotiating, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Experience identifying automation requirements and crafting solutions to address test execution challenges
  • Ability to think analytically and creatively, solve sophisticated problems, and innovate
  • Self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic about user-focused design & high-quality products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate close interaction with development teams, management, and other organizations with Apple
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Objective C, XCTest, XCode
  • Familiarity with health-regulated software testing and documentation process
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing
  • Familiarity with testing embedded devices
  • Knowledge of Macintosh systems and Mac OS or UNIX variant
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub
