Position Title: IT Operations Support Specialist
Employment Type: Contract/Hybrid
Location: Remote
Compensation: $29 - $33/hr, based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of production tasks within mainframe and mid-range server settings, including job setup, scheduling, execution, monitoring, and troubleshooting of operational issues.
- Support COBOL applications by utilizing the organization's source code management and compilation tools to facilitate the promotion of program packages and components as required by development teams.
- Engage in collaborative programming practices to enhance knowledge sharing and training among team members.
- Review and submit procedural documentation while actively participating in team presentations to bolster team expertise.
- Manage incident tickets through a tracking software application, ensuring each incident or request is updated with actions taken and resolutions achieved.
- Oversee the operation of the mainframe console, including device assignments, responding to operator messages, and managing input/output device operations by executing jobs according to established schedules while adhering to operational standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge and experience in customer service.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 2 years of experience within the last five years in IBM mainframe operations and production control, including job ordering, submission, cancellation, and monitoring using scheduling software such as Control-M.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a data center environment, closely interacting with clients and managing incident tickets using tracking software like Cherwell.
- Two years of experience in the last five years working with Endeavor software to facilitate the movement of application programs and source elements, including Job Control Language (JCL), Procedures (PROCS), and Control Statements to Endeavor libraries.
