Job Description:

The Seasonal Sales Associate at Brown University's University Bookstore will provide exceptional customer service and support in a fast-paced retail environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting customers with book and merchandise selections
  • Processing sales at the point of sale terminals
  • Stocking and merchandising sales floor, maintaining organization and presentation
  • Providing assistance with location and selection of merchandise
  • Using software to look up merchandise in the Point of Sale system
  • Assisting customers in the store as needed
  • Filling in and alphabetizing sections as needed
  • Helping arrange attractive merchandise displays on the sales floor
  • Keeping the register area supplied with bags and other supplies
  • Initiating cleaning and stocking on the sales floor as needed
  • Price/shelving merchandise
  • Unpacking merchandise from boxes and determining correct selling price
  • Replenishing merchandise as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • High School education or GED
  • One year experience in a high volume retail operation with an MBS point of sale system preferred
  • Ability to interact well with the general public, faculty, staff, and students
  • Flexibility and teamwork
  • Some weekend shifts will be required during peak periods
  • Moderate lifting is required at times
  • Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
