Job Summary

The Creative Design Specialist is a key member of the Evangelical Covenant Church team, responsible for developing print and digital designs from concept to completion. This role collaborates with the Design Director and the Manager of the Fulfillment Center/Print Shop to provide optimal responses to the needs of internal and external constituents for printed resources, while advancing the church's communication, branding, and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produces/designs, proofs, and updates existing materials for print projects (and occasionally digital projects) using Canva, Microsoft, Adobe Creative Suite, and MailChimp.
  • Handles projects in both print and digital media environments while working as part of a multidisciplinary communication team.
  • Professionally edits and color corrects photos.
  • Will be willing to learn and perform essential fulfillment center/print shop duties:
    • Operates all computer and print equipment, software, and devices in the print shop in an expert fashion for the purposes of designing, printing, cutting, folding, collating, binding, etc.
    • Sets up print projects for mail merges.
    • Fulfills online orders for printed and other resources ordered via [insert system].
  • Other duties as assigned by Design Director and Manager of Fulfillment Center.
Requirements
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree; two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Final Cut Pro, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with PHP is also desired.
  • Detail oriented, strong organization, prioritization, and time-management skills are essential.
  • Works well under pressure and is able to accomplish multiple tasks, with conflicting priorities and timelines. Ability to track and report progress on a wide range of tasks, simultaneously, while ensuring projects are delivered on agreed-upon times.
  • Ability to respond to and deal with a range of ad hoc queries/requests.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly and courteously to customer needs; solicits feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • Develops workable implementation plans; communicates changes effectively.
  • Ability to operate with discretion and, at times, confidentiality.
  • Likes learning new things.
  • Maintains flexibility in approach and adjusts actions when appropriate.
  • Uses critical thinking skills, applying logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to address challenges.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently.
  • Additional skills are a plus: Photography, Videography, Fluency in Spanish.
Work Environment

Able to work well in a professional office setting, but occasionally works in remote locales. Occasional travel. Must be versatile and able to work for prolonged segments sitting or standing. Must engage frequently with office tools and equipment, such as: computer, copier, phone, web-conferencing equipment, cell communication, printers, and other print shop equipment. Must be able to occasionally lift or move items, less than 40 lbs.; and using machinery to move boxes and crates (Pallets, dolly, etc.). Occasionally, packs and unpacks, moves, and lifts boxes that contain event materials.
