Job Summary

Under the direction of an Anesthesiologist, the Anesthesiologist Assistant provides anesthesia services to patients undergoing surgical or medical procedures. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer anesthetics and monitor patient reactions and vital signs during and after anesthesia
  • Provide anesthesia services under the direction of an Anesthesiologist, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care
  • Perform pre-anesthesia functions, including reviewing patient condition and checking equipment readiness
  • Perform post-anesthesia duties, including remaining with patients until safe transfer of care and advising personnel of specific problems
  • Responsible for narcotic medication accounting and distribution under the direction of an Anesthesiologist
  • Respond to life-threatening and respiratory emergencies under the direction of an Anesthesiologist
  • Assist nursing units with difficult IV insertions and provide work direction and guidance to Anesthesiologist Assistant students
Requirements
  • Anesthesiologist Assistant license issued by the state of Wisconsin
  • Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA-C) certification issued by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) within 18 months
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
  • Master's Degree in Anesthesia
Work Environment

This role is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, with no weekends, holidays, or call shifts. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
