Apprentice Lineworker

About this Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lineworker Apprentice, where you will learn the skills and techniques necessary to work on powerlines. As an Apprentice, you will be trained in the principles of live work, energized primary work, and connecting single-phase transformers.

Responsibilities

• Install primary protective cover, hoses, blankets, and guards
• Perform directly supervised primary line work
• Assist in installing single-phase transformers, hanging with trucks, and blocks from poles
• Make connections to transformers, operate switches, and fuse
• Perform apparatus grounding, take primary AMP readings, and conduct conductor transfers
• Work on reconductor projects, install stringing blocks, and perform primary clipping and lying
• Install dead-end assemblies, jumpers, and use wire stringing equipment
• Phase primary circuits with phasing sticks

Training and Development

• Complete a set of personal climbing gear
• Take courses in Advanced Rigging, Overhead Distribution Systems, Service Installation, and Pole Framing and Guying
• Learn Multimeter Operation and Use, and Using Line Test Equipment
