About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Nami Nori in Montclair, New Jersey. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in all aspects of food production, coaching and training, ordering and inventory management, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000-$72,000 per year, with additional benefits including 40 hours paid time off annually, 40 hours vacation time annually for management, medical, dental, and vision health insurance programs, a pre-tax health care spending program, commuter benefits, and employee dining discounts at any Nami Nori location.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Support the Executive Chef in all kitchen operations, including food production, coaching and training, ordering and inventory management.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and safety in the kitchen, adhering to department of health regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for inventory management, ensuring optimal use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Provide coaching and training to junior staff members, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Natural leader with entrepreneurial spirit and results-driven approach.
  • Flexible availability, with ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
