The Environmental Services department at Corewell Health is dedicated to ensuring a hygienic and secure atmosphere for our patients and their families. An Environmental Services Associate is responsible for performing essential cleaning duties to uphold a sterile, tidy, and appealing environment within the healthcare facility, while engaging positively with patients, visitors, and fellow staff members. The following outlines the key responsibilities and tasks associated with this role, with the understanding that additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- It is crucial for an Environmental Services Associate to interact comfortably with patients, families, and visitors, presenting a welcoming demeanor that fosters a sense of care and hospitality.
- Conduct daily cleaning of patient rooms, ensuring all surfaces are sanitized, walls and windows are spot cleaned, trash and linens are removed as needed, and restrooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
- Maintain cleanliness in ancillary areas including nursing stations, medication rooms, pantries, utility rooms, waiting areas, locker rooms, break rooms, offices, and other designated spaces.
- Responsible for cleaning specialized areas such as operating rooms, pre-operative and post-operative areas, emergency departments, intensive care units, labor and delivery units, pediatric units, mental health units, oncology, radiology, laboratories, physical and occupational therapy areas, pharmacies, geriatric units, kitchens, and more.
- Perform basic cleaning tasks including sanitizing surfaces, vacuuming, dust mopping, damp mopping, low and high dusting, stocking supplies, and managing waste and soiled linens. Additional miscellaneous tasks may be assigned as required.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning agents and adhere to established guidelines while executing tasks. Training will be provided to ensure proficiency in required duties and the use of necessary tools.
- Actively engage in safety initiatives and risk management practices, completing all safety-related competencies and requirements in a timely manner.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation
Hourly wage starting at $18.32, commensurate with experience.
