Job Overview

Position Title: Laser Machine Operator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary:

This role involves executing a range of machine operations associated with the setup, programming, and cutting of sheet metal and aluminum. The objective is to manufacture a diverse array of components for various assemblies and products.

The operator will be responsible for configuring the machine, utilizing existing programs to align raw materials, and operating the equipment to produce parts according to specified designs and tolerances. Adjustments will be made as necessary to uphold quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Receive assignments and ensure all required materials, tools, and quality control equipment are available.
  • Prepare the workspace and machinery, executing operations in the correct sequence while ensuring proper material positioning.
  • Inspect the quality of materials during operations and verify the accuracy of finished components against established tolerances.
  • Notify supervisors of any issues that arise.
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations set by the company, performing tasks with care to prevent injuries.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Record work hours and production metrics accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform additional departmental tasks as needed.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires moving sheet metal, primarily using mechanical assistance, with some lifting involved.


Qualifications:

Education: Sufficient formal education to effectively read, write, and communicate. A High School Diploma is preferred.

Experience: This is a trainable role; however, six months of machine operation experience is preferred.

Skills: Effective communication skills, ability to follow directions, a positive attitude, teamwork capability, physical ability to lift necessary loads, manual dexterity for handling tools and materials, and attention to detail.


Supervisory Role:

No supervisory responsibilities; however, experienced operators may assist in training new hires at the discretion of the Shift Supervisor.


Work Environment:

This position typically involves a standard shift with occasional overtime in a factory setting characterized by moderate noise levels.
