Key Responsibilities- Investigations and Enforcement: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
- Community Engagement: Attend community meetings to discuss crime prevention strategies and address concerns from residents.
- Reporting and Documentation: Write detailed reports on incidents, investigations, and other activities, and testify in court as needed.
- Public Safety: Direct and control traffic, issue citations for minor violations, and perform first aid and other assistance as required.
- Communication and Collaboration: Operate police communication and computer equipment to obtain, disseminate, and report information, and work closely with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders.
- Education and Experience: Must be a retired sworn Police Officer under the optional retirement of the Metropolitan Police Department.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license, pass a medical examination, and pass a psychological examination and drug-screening test.
- Background and Character: Must pass a thorough background investigation and possess a high moral character for carrying out law enforcement duties.
- Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen.
