Job Description

Company Overview:

Snyder Executive Search is seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager to join our client, a leader in the Specialty Vehicle Manufacturing industry. Our client is renowned for designing and producing state-of-the-art specialty vehicles that set new standards for performance and reliability.

Position Overview:

The Operations Manager will lead a dedicated team of 6 supervisors and over 150 employees across fabrication, aluminum, paint, and multiple assembly departments. The primary mission is to meet and exceed production goals by implementing Quantum Lean Time in System principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Culture: Champion and cultivate a safety-first culture.
  • Accountability: Ensure accountability and create actionable plans for supervisors and team leads.
  • Leadership: Delegate effectively to optimize talent and resource utilization.
  • Problem-Solving: Tackle challenges creatively to meet production objectives.
  • Production Planning: Adjust work center schedules to meet delivery targets.
  • Resource Management: Ensure teams have the necessary personnel, tools, and supplies.
  • Communication: Host weekly staff meetings and daily production and transition meetings.
  • Employee Engagement: Act as the primary voice of production, enhancing overall employee engagement.
  • Customer Service: Address concerns from both internal and external customers.
  • Process Improvement: Research, document, and implement process improvements, providing training as needed.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and train others on lean manufacturing best practices.
  • Efficiency: Identify and eliminate production inefficiencies.
  • Budget Management: Manage and monitor all production budgets and resources.
  • Metric Tracking: Define, analyze, and track relevant production metrics.
  • Safety and Security: Maintain safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions, and properly use equipment and materials.
  • Attendance and Coverage: Ensure punctual attendance and coverage of work responsibilities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Purchase Orders: Approve purchase order requisitions for production-related parts and tools.
  • HR Duties: Review and approve timesheets, PTO requests, and other HR duties.
  • Operational Budgeting: Help set and manage operational expense budgets.
  • Policies and Procedures: Define and review policies and procedures, including departmental standards and responsibilities.
  • Performance Management: Provide ongoing feedback and conduct performance reviews.
  • Committee Participation: Participate in various operational committees and meetings, including Lean Manufacturing, Engineering Steering Committee, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Collaboration: Is innovative, collaborative, and can think outside-the-box.
  • Team Environment: Values a team environment with a Servant Leadership style of management.
  • Background Check: Ability to pass a background check and drug test, with a clean driving record and eligibility for company insurance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or service shop environment.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a leadership role managing teams of 50 or more.
  • Project Management: Proactive and diligent Project Manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean Manufacturing Expertise: Expertise in Lean Manufacturing best practices.
  • Specialty Vehicle Manufacturing Experience: Prior specialty vehicle manufacturing experience or similar fabrication experience.
  • Computer Skills: Exceptional computer skills.
  • Manufacturing Drawings: Proficiency in interpreting manufacturing drawings and engineering prints.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail.
