Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Electronics Systems Technician to join our team at The Ohio State University. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operations of automated, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, modify, program, and repair automated, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Perform tasks that ensure the uninterrupted operations of branch circuitry, power distribution, emergency power, fire alarm, security, public address, pneumatic transport, televisions, automated lighting, conveyors, and material handling systems.
  • Respond to emergency situations and evaluate and correct defects.
  • Assist lower-level technicians and other trades as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and procedures, clean and maintain work areas and equipment, and attend meetings.
  • Document labor, materials, and work performed on work orders, request equipment and materials required to complete tasks, and communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervision via written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years' experience in electrical or electronic systems with a minimum of one year analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic equipment and circuits, electrical and electronic logic circuits, and/or computer hardware, software, and microprocessor-controlled equipment.
  • Valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card.
  • Demonstrated competence in two of the following technical specialties: branch circuitry, electronic systems, electrical distribution systems, pneumatic transport systems, and fire alarm systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates/technical degree or certificate in skilled trades/maintenance-related field.
  • Basic understanding of university building design standards (BDS) related to the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position requires the ability to push and pull 70 lbs, distinguish colors, climb and stand on ladders for extended periods, and work in hot, cold, dusty, or dirty environments for an extended period.
