Position Summary:
The Junior Forestry Specialist plays a vital role in delivering forestry services to the organization. Responsibilities include performing tree assessments, creating specifications for tree removal, and supervising the removal process. Additionally, this position involves developing and executing vegetation management plans and conducting evaluations of tree safety.
Qualifications:
We welcome candidates who possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related discipline with 0-2 years of relevant experience in utility environments.
- [OR] An Associate degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field accompanied by 2 or more years of relevant experience in utility settings.
- [OR] A High School Diploma with 4 or more years of relevant experience in utility forestry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary liaison with clients, offering expert advice on tree risk evaluations, inventories, valuations, and removal processes.
- Conduct site assessments on company assets located on customer properties to evaluate tree health, identify potential hazards, and propose solutions. Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with various departments to enhance knowledge of forestry best practices.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns, ensuring satisfactory resolutions.
- Support storm recovery efforts alongside external crews for high and low voltage systems.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Essential Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of tree biology and risk assessment methodologies.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GIS applications.
Work Environment:
Fieldwork constitutes approximately 90% of the role, primarily conducted outdoors.
