CT Technologist

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This includes operating CT scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Examine requests and verify orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as necessary.
- Properly identify patients and assist them while offering a brief explanation of the procedures, preparing patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documenting on appropriate worksheets.
- Interview patients for a complete medical history, reviewing in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history and recording medical history on requisitions.
- Assume responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion, preparing and administering IV contrast according to departmental protocols and recording contrast type and amount as requested.
- Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed, recognizing abnormal anatomy and processing any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
- Perform basic patient care functions, informing appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition and initiating life support measures for patients when necessary.
- Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures, practicing proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies and performing all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Practice principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members, following appropriate radiation safety standards and reporting malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
- Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- ARRT certification in Radiology, or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT scanning within one year of hire.
