Pediatric Cardiology Job Description
The UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to function as an inpatient cardiology APP, consultant, and educator. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to the growth and development of our department. Your responsibilities will include obtaining in-depth medical histories from patients and families, performing examinations according to accepted medical practice, and communicating treatment programs relating to patient needs. You will also determine required tests, interpret test results, complete medical documentation and billing procedures, and facilitate referral and consultation needs. In addition, you will serve as inpatient care coordinator for the pediatric cardiology patient population, maintain communication with parents, local providers, and other health services, educate patients and families, and prepare patients and families for discharge and follow-up. Furthermore, you will actively participate in daily inpatient rounds, assist with development and implementation of standards of care and guidelines, and perform Pediatric Cardiology consults as requested.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Obtain in-depth medical histories from patients and families.
  2. Perform examinations according to accepted medical practice both in inpatient and outpatient areas.
  3. Communicate treatment programs relating to patient needs.
  4. Determine required tests and interpret test results.
  5. Complete medical documentation and billing procedures according to institutional and departmental guidelines.
  6. Facilitate referral and consultation needs in a timely manner.
  7. Serve as inpatient care coordinator for the pediatric cardiology patient population.
  8. Maintain communication with parents, local providers, and other health services.
  9. Educate patients and families.
  10. Prepare patients and families for discharge and follow-up.
  11. Actively participate in daily inpatient rounds.
  12. Assist with development and implementation of standards of care and guidelines.
  13. Perform Pediatric Cardiology consults as requested.
