Senior Plumbing Estimator Opportunity

B & I Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Estimator to join our dynamic and expanding team. As a key member of our Plumbing Department, you will be responsible for estimating, planning, and organizing projects to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Plumbing Department Manager and Estimating Department to select projects for bidding.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and addendums to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Prepare and communicate requests for information to clarify project scope during the estimating process.
  • Evaluate efficient methods of installation and material usage to minimize projected costs and bids.
  • Use industry-standard estimating software to prepare competitive bids.
  • Make notes and clarifications on contract and field drawings to assist the Plumbing Department Manager, Superintendent, and Foremen with installations.
  • Review job estimates and takeoffs with the Plumbing Superintendent to determine mobilization requirements.
  • Prepare fixture package purchase orders and subcontracts after negotiating with suppliers.
  • Conduct turnover meetings for contracted projects and provide budgetary information and defined scope to the operations group.
  • Coordinate with the Drafting Department to avoid conflicts with other in-house trades.
  • Attend department meetings, including pre-bid meetings, estimating weekly meetings, and closeout meetings to review project outcomes and compare estimates to actual costs.
  • Explore new areas to expand department revenue with the Department Manager.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with potential clients and designers.
  • Attend professional organization meetings and activities to promote business for B & I.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial plumbing estimating experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of plumbing products, equipment, and installation procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Safety and Physical Requirements:

B & I Contractors, Inc. prioritizes safety for all roles. This position may require personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary for certain tasks. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring they have received all necessary safety equipment and commits to using it when performing tasks.

This role requires the ability to see well, hear and speak clearly, and use hands, fingers, arms, and legs fully. The incumbent must be able to kneel, crouch, and crawl, climb and balance on ladders and scaffolds, climb stairs, reach overhead, push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
