Position Overview:
Are you experienced in commercial food preparation or food service? StateJobsNY is seeking a Culinary Services Supervisor.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants from both outside and within State Service may qualify for the Culinary Services Supervisor role under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if they possess two years of relevant experience in commercial or institutional food preparation or food service.

Acceptable experience includes roles in settings such as hospitals, nursing facilities, school cafeterias, residential dining halls, restaurants, or diners. Candidates should have experience that encompasses responsibilities in food preparation, service, and inventory management.

Alternative Qualifications:
Formal training in culinary arts or food service that resulted in a certificate or degree may be considered as part of the required experience.

Additionally, candidates who are reachable on the current eligible list for Culinary Services Supervisor may be considered for a competitive class appointment.

Current State Service employees may also be eligible for transfer to this competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Job Responsibilities:
As a Culinary Services Supervisor, your duties will include:

  • Overseeing and mentoring staff in food preparation and service tasks
  • Assessing staff performance
  • Managing supply orders
  • Ensuring proper portioning of meals
  • Documenting meal counts
