Job Title: Senior Lifeguard

Join the City of Long Beach, CA team as a Senior Lifeguard and contribute to the safety and well-being of our community.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lifeguard to join our team. As a Senior Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers and patrons at our aquatic facilities. You will work closely with our Aquatics Supervisor to oversee daily operations, plan and implement program activities, and instruct swimming classes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and implementing various program activities
  • Instruct a variety of swimming classes, water aerobics, and complete swim lesson evaluations
  • Serve as a lifeguard or instructor guard, as required
  • Monitor and maintain accurate registration and attendance records
  • Collect pool fees and prepare daily activity summary reports and bank deposit forms
  • Maintain equipment and supplies
  • Assist with routine pool cleaning and maintenance work on or around the swimming pool
  • Act as lead staff in emergency and rescue situations
  • Drive to offsite meetings and/or trainings
Requirements:
  • Three (3) years of experience working in aquatics or a related field
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification
  • Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid and Water Safety Instructor certification
  • Must have access to reliable transportation for all job responsibilities
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word
  • Proficiency in the use of the ActiveNet registration program
Selection Procedure:

Only those candidates showing the strongest backgrounds on the basis of comparative analysis will be invited to the examination process, which will include an interview and swim test.
