Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at ECHN. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform safe and effective respiratory therapy modalities as ordered by physicians, developing a plan of care based on assessment data and standards of care.
  • Set up, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation according to policy and procedure.
  • Administer medications, demonstrating thorough knowledge of policy and procedure.
  • Assemble, select, and operate equipment for proper operation and cleanliness, including mechanical ventilators, BIPAP/CPAP systems, oxygen delivery devices, and oxygen analyzers.
  • Perform tracheal, endotracheal, and nasopharyngeal suctioning, including the instillation of pharmacologic agents according to policy and procedure.
  • Draw and analyze blood gases by arterial stick according to policy and procedure.
  • Interpret arterial blood gas and oximetry results.
  • Differentiate between patient and equipment problems and intervene, communicating all patient therapies, including concerns, during shift.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program.
  • Must hold the credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care and a current license from the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • A minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years.
  • Ability to work well with others in a multi-task, fast-paced patient care environment.
  • Strong focus on customer service and ability to exhibit patience and empathy while providing care to a culturally diverse group of patients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP), or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
