Job Summary

Under the direction of the Radiology Director and a radiologist, performs imaging procedures using high-frequency sound waves to create diagnostic images of the human body for use in diagnosis of medical conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ultrasound procedures, patient positioning, and exposure techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Produces high-quality images on all patient age groups under the direction of a radiologist.
  2. Provides patient education about the procedure to be performed.
  3. Utilizes appropriate positioning of the patient for the procedure.
  4. Reviews images for quality and accuracy.
Assisting Radiologists
  1. Assists radiologists with invasive procedures.
  2. Prepares the room for specific procedures.
  3. Practices principles of sterile technique.
  4. Selects appropriate procedure trays and instruments.
Patient and Personal Safety
  1. Verifies patient identity using two approved identifiers.
  2. Follows infection control practices.
  3. Uses good body mechanics when lifting.
  4. Utilizes appropriate transfer techniques for patient condition.
PACS and Documentation
  1. Completes exams timely in PACS.
  2. Properly performs procedures for making patient CDs.
  3. Verifies written physician orders match orders in PACS.
  4. Verifies all images are in PACS and adds additional study information as needed.
Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent; graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program preferred. CPR certification required.
