Job Summary

The Pipe Production Supervisor - Operations Manager is a key member of the American SpiralWeld Pipe Company, LLC team, responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the Pipe Production department. This role involves overseeing the Spiral Pipe Mill, Repair Racks, and Selection in processing materials or manufacturing products in an industrial organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Direct, train, and assist employees as needed to ensure adequate quality and productivity.
  • Production Planning: Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan Pipe Production department operations.
  • Operational Scheduling: Plan Pipe Production operations, establish priorities and sequences for production process under the direction of the Department Manager.
  • Quality Control: Read customer specification and drawings to determine start-up procedure and other specifications for setting up pipe for Pipe Production operations.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Resource Allocation: At the discretion of the Department Manager, review work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization, formally reporting to Maintenance on equipment issues.
  • Inventory Management: Determine amounts of stock and supplies required for Pipe Production operations, based on production schedules, and requisition materials from the purchasing department.
  • Employee Development: Confer with operators to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods, develop or revise standard operational and working practices to increase efficiency of crews and employees.
  • Accident Investigation: Complete Accident/Incident investigations as required.
  • Employee Relations: Resolve employee issues and complaints or submit unresolved matters to Human Resources or Department Manager for further resolution.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversees repairs or replacement of defective parts, compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in a Mechanical Engineering discipline preferred.
  • Experience: Two to four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports, procedures, work instructions, and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Technical Skills: Must be able to read, understand, and interpret pipe drawings and specification boundary sheets, operate computer-controlled panels, including reading and interpreting console indicators and gauges, have knowledge of Manufacturing Software, Project Management Software, Spreadsheet software, and Word processing software.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
  • Leadership Skills: Must be able to effectively direct and lead multiple employees in the Pipe Production department, interview, hire, and train employees, plan, assign, and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems.
