The ideal candidate will work under limited supervision to prepare mechanical designs and drawings utilizing NX1980 and Teamcenter, correctly applying the ASME Y14.5-M-1994 (or higher) GD&T standard.

This role will support projects within APS-TD (PIP-II, LCLS-II, LCLS-II HE, Accelerator Support, LHC AUP, SRF, SC Magnets) and involve working directly with engineering staff to research and analyze design solutions, coordinate design development, and specify and select design components and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design tolerance and stack up calculations, layout designs, detailing, advanced level 3D models, and 2D drawings required for the project.
  • Deliver high-quality work within deadline-driven projects, ensuring designs and drawings are accurate and completed promptly according to the assigned tasks.
  • Maintain flexibility for modifications and adhere to best practices.

Deliverable Format and Quantity:

3D models and 2D drawings are completed in NX1980, managed in Teamcenter. Quantity will be directed by our team for each task.

Quality Assurance:

Work shall be performed in accordance with the QAM and APS-TD and Design/Drafting Procedures. All work will be reviewed, checked, and approved by our staff responsible for the specific task.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate acceptable proficiency in NX1980 CAD via an interview through the ZOOM meeting portal.
  • A minimum of a 5 years of experience as Designer.
