KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identify and understand customer quality specifications, developing inspection methodologies and plans to ensure compliance.
  2. Oversee internal and external quality challenges for the designated market team to meet team objectives.
  3. Provide assistance to engineering, inspection, manufacturing, and sales teams to achieve organizational and team goals.
  4. Comprehend relevant quality principles, including statistics, sampling management, blueprint interpretation, metrology, quality planning techniques, and corrective action processes.
  5. Familiarize with the Standard Operating Procedures of Spectrum Plastics Group.
  6. Contribute to project acquisition by identifying customer quality needs and their related costs and impacts on the quotation process.
  7. Assist during the project development phase by defining first article submission requirements, including dimensional analysis, capability studies, customer documentation, and necessary certifications.
  8. Understand and clarify the quality expectations of Spectrum Plastics Group's clients when needed.
  9. Analyze inspection data to verify that manufacturing and inspection processes are operating effectively, initiating corrective or preventive actions as required.
  10. Manage incoming, in-process, finished, and customer-returned non-conforming materials in accordance with the Discrepant Material Report and corrective action protocols. Conduct daily MRB meetings for rejected items.
  11. Support the resolution of quality issues by serving as a resource for quality problem-solving methodologies.
  12. Document and respond to internal and external quality issues with closed-loop corrective actions when appropriate.
  13. Assist the purchasing department by identifying quality requirements for purchased components/services and supporting the resolution of quality-related issues.
  14. Act as a backup for other Quality Engineers as needed.
  15. Interpret and analyze blueprints, quality manuals, business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulatory requirements as necessary.
  16. Compose, analyze, and interpret business and technical reports, correspondence, procedures, and inspection plans to effectively communicate business and technical information to peers, management, and customers.
  17. Translate technical information presented in mathematical or diagrammatic form and engage with abstract and concrete concepts.
  18. Identify problems, conduct root cause analysis, select and implement solutions, and evaluate their effectiveness.
  19. Apply and understand process and gauging qualification methods, statistical sampling theory, and statistical process control techniques.
  20. Program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to facilitate the inspection process.
  21. Lead and/or support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S methodologies.

DEFENSE INDUSTRY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer-specific requirements for Spectrum Plastics Group's defense clientele and the AS9100 standards.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING:

A Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year institution; or five years of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of post-secondary education and related experience. Training and/or experience in Plastics Molding Technology is preferred. Proficiency in using mainframe terminals and personal computers relevant to job tasks is required.
